Hi I’ve been quoted £300 an hour for a 12 yard skip. Is that good?

Umm unless what you're putting in is unsuitable for it then I'd suggest looking at hiring a hippo bag from b and q...amazing value and works excellently

That doesn't sound very good although depends on how long you need it and what's going in it. I pay around £240 for a 6 yard skip for as long as I need which varies from days to weeks.

I pay £150 for a midi skip,I keep it until it’s full and I ask them to get it.

chopc · 15/11/2019 16:02

@pingster yes so £300 PER HOUR is a bit steep isn't it?

filka · 15/11/2019 16:25

Skips are not charged by the hour - they are usually charged at a fixed price for delivery, rental for a period (typically up to 2 weeks) and removal. £300 would be about right for a 12 yard skip. The rental period depends mainly on how long it takes you to fill the skip - can be anything from a day or two to a week or two. Any longer and you might get an additional charge.

Also remember that if the skip is outside your boundary/on the road then you might need permission from the council, skip company might do this for you. Also you will need to put lights on it at night (which are a bit vulnerable to getting stolen) which will put the price up.

I paid £220 for 14 days (South East)

£228 (including VAT) for an 8 yard skip is what I’ve paid recently in the north west. They don’t do 12 yard but I just looked and a 16 yard one would be £354 inc VAT.

Could keep the skip for up to 2 weeks.

ABingThing · 15/11/2019 21:48

In East Anglia - currently have an 8 yard skip, £190 including VAT for a week. I guess it depends where in the country you are as to what is reasonable

MaybeitsMaybelline · 16/11/2019 07:05

Just paid 220 for an 8 yard skip including vat which you can keep for two weeks.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 16/11/2019 07:06

Sorry - West Yorkshire

300 an hour?! Are you sure? I’m in London and have heard of my fair share of hefty pricing, but that is huge.
