In my kitchens I've had laminate flooring that looked cheap, chipped and blew where it got wet. I felt like I could never get it clean.
I've had a tiled floor that we chipped a tile on in the first week from dropping a mug. It was freezing underfoot.
I've had a lino / cushion floor that although warm, cut like butter when I dropped a knife on it.
I now have Karndean and I bloody love it. It's warm, it's textured so you don't slip, it's easy to clean. The biggest sell for me was that if it got damaged you could just replace the damaged strip by heating it and gluing a new one down. We made sure that we ordered enough to have plenty of spares as we covered a large area and want the floor to last.
You do need a good fitter though. Like anything, it will look shit if it's not done properly.
