Cost to install a new radiator?

Has anybody had a new radiator installed recently? It’s not a replacement, it’s a new one being added to the system.

I’ve had a quote for £250, with us providing the radiator and valves (not pipes). This seemed high to me as I’m in the north east and prices are normally fairly low, but I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Any experience with getting quotes for this would be helpful!

Is this something you might have time to do yourself?

It's easier than it sounds and there's loads of videos YouTube.

We've just moved 2 radiators and added a new radiator. It probably took a day and a half (no previous experience).

Sorry! That absolutely did not answer your question.

Is your house complicated? Would it take a lot of time to sort the pipe work?

Thanks for your reply, I wouldn’t be confident to do it myself but my dad might be willing! He’s done so much lately though it would be good to just get someone in, if the price isn’t too much.

I don’t think it’s too complicated, there’s an existing radiator just on the other side of the (solid) wall, in the hallway and the plumber said he’d work off that one.

We paid around £100 last year but had several so it was £500 for five. It took longer than I thought it would and one would take longer than one of five - but £250 sounds steep.

Yes that sounds expensive - we’re in SE and paid £150 for installation of 2 new radiators including a lot of pipework and drilling through walls etc.

Thanks everyone, going to get another quote!

250 if it's a cheap area sound like at least a days work. Or it's a risky job and the installer suspects he will need to come back for leaks or noise etc.

We paid £150 including pipe work but we were supplying the radiator etc last year (SE) , however we then had problems getting them balanced so got BG to do the next one and that cost £290 but they were here all day messing about getting the system working so it was well worth it .
