Composite Sinks

I'm thinking of getting a black composite sink when I change my worktops.

Anyone any experience of them? Do they mark easily? Are they easy enough to maintain? The alternative is to just go stainless steel again.

I have a champagne granite composite sink, it is huuuge which is a Godsend

If your water is soft you might get away with black, otherwise you'll be forever cleaning limescale .

My kitchen is cream+oak , so the sink looks lovely (IMO) but it is now 14 years old and my family likes tomato based food Grin.. I wanted a Butler sink but was adviced against i

I use washing up liquid and a nylon scrubby thing to clean, then soak overnight in bleach solution if it needs it .

Truth be known, if I was to replace it , I'd go for a stainless steel large + half sink.

We had a charcoal-coloured one in last house and I thought it was great. But we used a washing up bowl which probably mitigated limescale and hardness issues; the draining board would clean with a scrub just like anything else.

The floor and splash back were the same colour and tied together really well. We have stainless steel now and I really don't like it.

I had a cream coloured one (not sure if it was composite, but similar) which didn't really show marks but the last year or so (20 year old kitchen) has become worn. That was with creamy speckled worktops.

I'm having a new kitchen fitted atm and have got a black composite. We had one in a holiday cottage over the summer and it did mark, which put me off a bit but I decided it was what I wanted, worktops are a walnut wood laminate.
It's only been in a couple of weeks, and it will need wiping off after use to keep it good, but I don't see that as an issue.
I've got a new stainless steel one in the utility and that's pretty much the same I terms of needing wiping off to avoid water marks.

Very hard water area here.

Thanks for the feedback.

I really would avoid black. DD has white bathroom ones and they are difficult to keep clean. I would avoid them. I have ceramic and it’s perfect after 10 years and it’s very large. In fact it’s a large double. I have s/s for a veg prep sink and another large s/s in my laundry. Both are better than composite in my view. Just look after them.
