This house is bonkers

This house just came up for sale not too far from me. It is so bonkers I think I like it. I can't decide if the copper mirrored sitting room with the cut through window and multicoloured lights is my favourite or the bed stuffed into the gable.

bonkers house

I'm trying the clicky link, I'll do it again if it doesn't work.

The like the first one, lots of space. No idea about the location though.

House two - what the heck!! Where they running a small business, telesales, phones sex??

RavenLG · 29/10/2019 15:34

I would bloody love the bonkers house! I'd change a few things like the bathrooms and the kitchen (very caravan-esque). But the dining room and that fireplace is absolutely stunning. The art deco vibes are superb. The stained glass windows are beautiful and I weirdly love the wooden and bronze panelling in the living room. It works with the furniture in it, I'd be asking if we could keep all of it haha.

BarbourellaTheCoatzilla · 29/10/2019 15:36

House 2 scares me. It would be a nightmare if you had trypophobia

willloman · 29/10/2019 15:37

Thank you - my eyes will never recover! head hurts and this cannot be explained or unseen Envy not envy

DontCallMeShitley · 29/10/2019 15:43

It isn't bonkers at all, it has character and style.

It has been decorated to incorporate what was already there and I like it, except the pine panelling because I have lived in houses with it and it is really depressing, especially if some knob head has put it on the ceiling. It is like being in a wood cabin or a shed.

If it was detached and not so far from where I need to live I would be moved in by now.

DeniseRoyal · 29/10/2019 15:44

Ha! I used to live in this area! I agree, the house is a bit bonkers 😬 There is far too much going on, it hurts my eyes 🙈

LemonBreeland · 29/10/2019 15:47

Imagine going to see socket house and somebody asking you about it.

'What was it like?'
'Sockets and spotlights!'
'eh?' Grin

I just can't imagine needing that many sockets ever.

The other house is very panelled. I imagine there are more Victorian features that have been hidden away in there.

fallfallfall · 29/10/2019 16:04

The first house screams the fact that maintaining and updating is expensive. A new room was done up every 5 years, and some simply ignored. It’s a lovely big house with a story. Probably of a very old couple who no longer have the health and desire to fix it up.

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/10/2019 16:07

I bet even the estate agents were baffled by socket house and they must see weird stuff all the time.

GoodGriefSunshine · 29/10/2019 19:49

Not bonkers. Just horribly decorated. But easily sorted.

Seeingadistance · 29/10/2019 22:37

First house is a little odd, but a great house.

Socket house! Yeah, I also thought they must have been growing weed.

AnotherEmma · 29/10/2019 22:45

Why on earth would you not just remove the surplus sockets and lights (leaving a normal amount) before selling? Would cost but surely worth it.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 29/10/2019 23:40

Great thing about socket house is being able to put your Christmas tree wherever you want.
There's only one spot in our house which is close enough to a socket yet far enough from a radiator

Samcotton85 · 30/10/2019 16:50

If you buy it keep that wooden cladding... I think it will be back in fashion in a few years

^ That really! I wouldn’t choose to be there tbh

FooOOOOoooofffffff · 30/10/2019 21:59

I wouldn't buy it for any amount. I was just curious because I sit at that intersection for ages every Friday taking DS to guitar and wonder who would want to live on such a congested junction. If that house were situated elsewhere for that price, I'd be all over it. (First job would be to rip out the peek-a-boo-loo)

I've just shown socket house to the electrician re-wiring my kitchen...
"they've got more sockets than our wholesaler display"

flashingbeacon · 01/11/2019 12:46

I frequently loose my mind with my 2 kitchen sockets and rant about have as many sockets and physically will fit on the wall. I guess I’m not the only one?

sparklefarts · 01/11/2019 12:57

I don't think it's that bonkers, but hello very close neighbour!

sparklefarts · 01/11/2019 12:57

It does need massively updating tho

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 01/11/2019 13:01

adobe dh would love that house. He's plug mad. He was trying to convince me we need more than the 5 sets we already have in our small kitchen, and that doesn't include the hidden ones the appliances are plugged into

sparklefarts · 01/11/2019 13:02

House 2 scares me. It would be a nightmare if you had trypophobia

ShockI was wondering why the duck that second house made me want to run away s I'm not weird it's an actual thing! Thank you!
