Changing mortgage advisor after they have put decision in principle in place?

First time buyers, met with a mortgage advisor last month who talked the talk and sounded great but the communication is poor and I often have to chase a query up. This mortgage advisor isn’t the cheapest so for the price I would expect a better service, considering some get paid by commission only and don’t charge you. The mortgage advisor we seen put a decision in principle in place for us which has their name on so am concerned how that would affect things if we were to switch advisors. We can only meet with mortgage advisors on the weekend which makes things a bit more difficult and partner is CIS so that also makes things not straight forward, we want to use his payslips/invoices rather than accounts as accounts are they are far from accurate. Viewing a property at the weekend which we are likely to want to put an offer in, depending on a few things. Can anyone advise on changing mortgage advisor at this stage after previous one has put decision in principle in place? Can you change mortgage advisor after putting offer in? We will not be able to meet with a mortgage advisor before our viewing due to work commitments so really don’t know what to do.

You've paid for mortgage advice? Our mortgage advisor is free and does it all over the phone, I'd try someone that does that and swap before you buy. Are you wanting to change your provider or just advisor?

@TrickyKid the advisor we are currently with charges on completion so haven't paid anything yet. She is independent so would like to use someone else just due to the poor communication now before we have even offered on a property. Would it be difficult to do this saying as her name is on decision in principle?

It may not be the same, but I had a decision in principle put in place by the mortgage advisor from a bank, and when I couldn’t get in touch with her again for weeks, I sacked it off and went elsewhere when it came to sorting the mortgage, but I still used that mortgage in principle to demonstrate my financial position when putting an offer on a house.

Unless you have a contract to the advisor that states paying regardless of completion, then you should be fine to go elsewhere.

You can look for a new Mortgage Broker you will have to start the process again though
