Something strange about this house...

So,
Been looking at moving house and one came up which we like.
It has a weird selling history though.
Looks like the buyers tried to put it back on the market 3 months after buying it without doing any work to it and then it’s been put back up for sale every year for the past 5 years but never sold. It’s now gone up for sale again today.
Why do you think this is?

It’s really near a school, maybe it’s noisy and the parking is a nightmare?

Squirreltamer · 25/10/2019 22:51

I can’t see anything wrong with it. And it’s a nice area... hardly a dump!

But I do think it’s overpriced. That price is price the Victorian properties go for in Portishead or the ones with sea views on the road over.

I’d say it was worth about 450k-470k so more like the price they paid for it. The larger 5 beds up the road with bigger plots are more like 525 but I don’t know the ins and outs of the area. That’s my brief local knowledge and 5 mins research.

I’d also hazard a guess this was originally a 3 large double bedroom house. Bedroom 4 may of been the bathroom by the look of the window height and 3 would of come out into the landing area hence it’s odd shape for a 1930s house.

The ghost in picture 15 probably doesn’t help Grin

Just looks like your typical greedy/deluded or kite flying time wasting vendor to me... see it all the time in my area, houses put up for sale every year at the start of tourist season for silly prices and withdrawn only to be relisted again the next year.

Seahorseshoe · 26/10/2019 05:34

Yes I'd ask the estate agent or even the neighbours.

It's a lovely, bright house op.

user1471532130 · 26/10/2019 05:55

Maybe the neighbours are a problem.

Countrylifeornot · 26/10/2019 06:20

It's creepy as fuck, that's what's wrong with it.

SleepyKat · 26/10/2019 06:35

Why is it creepy? It’s not some old, gothic place....looks quite normal.

I reckon there’s an issue with parking on the street. All the drives have H bars painted on the road. It’s normally hard to get a council to do that. Why so many non residents parking on the street? What’s it near?

Bluntness100 · 26/10/2019 06:41

I also don't see why it's creepy. It's a nice bright clean house. I think some folks see a bandwagon and jump on it.

Op if you'd posted that house and just said what do folks think about it, not one person would have said it was creepy.

ChaoticKate · 26/10/2019 06:46

I went to view a house that had been repeatedly listed over about 7 years and I have never wanted to get out of a building so much in my life. On paper it was perfect for us and we were really excited about seeing it. In the flesh it was beautiful and historic but as soon as I walked through the door I got this awful oppressive feeling that I just couldn’t shake. I’m not into woo stuff and I’ve never felt like that before but I would never go back to that house. Obviously we didn’t buy it!

ThePawtriarchy · 26/10/2019 06:56

Are you talking about the little yellow face like pattern @FAQs

madcatladyforever · 26/10/2019 07:10

Get it exorcised, it'll be fine.

TheFaerieQueene · 26/10/2019 07:14

The previous owners where there for a long time.

Absa · 26/10/2019 07:15

Could be if it's tenanted, they just try to list it at the end of each let rather than having to break contract and kick tenants out early.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 26/10/2019 08:24

I think the two local schools round the corner make that road very busy at school run times. A pp poster said about the 'H' bar lines painted on the road, looking at street view, cars are parking Inbetween the 'H' bars and there's even one parked over one. It could be tricky trying to get in or out of the driveway.

1idea · 26/10/2019 08:31

What is the small door for on the landing? Is that where the ghosts live?
Looks like a lovely house to me.

BarbedBloom · 26/10/2019 12:45

I have to say i don't like it either, nicely decorated but I don't like the feel of it, no idea why. Looks like a cold house, which is weird. I would assume some sort of problem like noisy neighbours or parking though rather than woo reasons. Or it could be after every set of tenants the owner keeps trying to sell it but it is overpriced, as someone said
