Viewing in half an hour. It's raining. Leave DCat in or kick him out?

He is fast asleep on his blanket. The estate agent will be showing them around so DCat is likely to be unsettled and run away from them. Normally I would put him out but it's raining. And he is a rescue cat. And I hate doing anything to him that might upset him Smile

Can I just leave him? It is only one viewing. Or will they find him off putting?

I would leave him. Our cat is a house cat and was there for all of our viewings, they all loved him!

Pomegranatemolasses · 25/10/2019 11:07

I’d leave him in. When we had viewings the cat normally disappeared somewhere in the house, so I could never find him to put him out.

PigletJohn · 25/10/2019 11:09

you could give him a cardboard box. He'll like that.

Babdoc · 25/10/2019 11:12

I think a cat will make it look more homely, and give viewers positive vibes! And it would be most unkind to put poor puss out in the rain.

WaningGibbous · 25/10/2019 11:13

In is better than out. Because if they are out they might come back in through the cat flap with a still flapping bird, and then spend a few hours chasing the bird around the house leaving bits of bird everywhere, then eat various morsels, throw the uneaten bits around a bit more and then walk around the house chucking half digested bird up everywhere. Then you might come home to see two somewhat green faced prospective buyers running away from the house and an ashen faced estate agent locking up and still incapable of speech.

He's not a proper cat. Boxes are of no interest to him, otherwise that would have been a good idea.

I'm glad no one thinks I should put him out except DH who is very wrong I shall leave him on his blanket Smile

Waning, we have no cat flap, but I like your sense of drama Grin

He would just sit with his soggy nose pressed up against the window crying to get in. He never leaves the garden and panics if he can't get back in so there is always a door or a window open for him. Definitely not putting him out now.

I'ld leave him in - love seeing cats in houses. Maybe put your DH out Grin

😂😂 Hoping for your sake that you just have a good imagination and that is not based on a real experience.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 25/10/2019 11:32

He doesn't sound like he'll be any trouble. I'd leave him be.

Monr0e · 25/10/2019 11:40

I've left him

I doubt the house sale will rest on the presence of DCat. Unless he bolts, trips up the viewers, they fall down the stairs, break a leg and sue us.

Leave him.
Part of the reason I bought my house was because of their lovely cat and little boy.

DustyDoorframes · 25/10/2019 11:43

@PancakeAndKeith did they leave them with the fixtures and fittings?

Monr0e · 25/10/2019 11:47

I can leave the kids????

I was writing from experience Hmm

I also viewed a house once that had a massively obese cat in it, which followed us around begging for food. It followed us out into the garden and then refused to come back in because we wouldn't feed it. There was a cat flap but it was at least 75% too small for the size of the cat, and the house owners were away for the weekend. The estate agent eventually locked up the details so he could call the owners to see what to do and found a note in capitals on the form saying CAT DOES FIT THROUGH THE CAT FLAP so I presume it happened enough to be an issue Grin

PancakeAndKeith · 25/10/2019 11:57

did they leave them with the fixtures and fittings?

No ☹️ The reason for us moving was to have a house suitable for a baby and a cat and it kind of sold the ‘lifestyle’.

We did stay friends and go and visit them in their new house. (We has friends in common and they invited us to a get together).
