Heating conservatory.

We have a large conservatory that is really too cold to use in the winter. It does have a radiator in it but it doesn't heat it enough.

I would like to occasionally use the conservatory when we have guests over. Is there a Heater I could buy that might make it warm enough? Or is all the heat just going to escape through the flimsy roof whatever I do?

Yup.
We have a conservatory, which was on the house when we bought it.

I struggle to understand why people build them.

We have a conservatory that has an electric heater in and it gets lovely and warm as long as the door is shut. We have the dinning table in there and I just turn the heater on full blast ten mins before we eat and it's fine. I'm not sure what the roof is tho, (we didn't build it) but it doesn't look like clear glass, it's more rippled and not exactly see through (if that makes sense?) it's also not all glass, one wall is full brick and the rest are half brick so don't know if that makes a difference?

Yep same as pp. we had an electric fire and two portable heaters and conservatory was used all year round

Well people manage to heat outside with those heaters that look like electric grill elements, so i would say yes even though a conservatory needs to meet the same standards as a garden shed, you'd probably be able to do it with a pair of 2 or 3kw models. Or could fit a couple of large double panel radiators eg 750h x 1400w.
The grills would cost about 75p per hour in electricity and gas cost about 1/3 of the amount.
