Would you buy a lovely flat with this drawback?

No designated parking space.

However, parking very close by. On street, in a small park two mins away and permit also available. It's not a city, it's a small town.

Flat is beautiful in a converted gorgeous building and in a nice, quiet area. We are considering purchasing it to let out (probably to our daughter but that's by the by and she doesn't yet drive so she's not bothered) but when it comes to re selling or letting to someone else, is the lack of a parking space a huge deal?

Thoughts?

Lovely flat. If your daughter would be happy in it and will stay a few years then I wouldn't worry too much about the parking aspect.

We've just sold a period flat with no designated parking, and it was definitely a deal breaker for a couple of viewers, especially one who really loved the flat but couldn't get past the parking issue. It still sold quickly enough, but probably would have sold a little faster with parking. It might reduce your potential market a bit, but if everything else is fine it'll still sell/let.

I bought my house as a car driver with no dedicated parking. Most of the time I can park right outside my house (most people very considerate) occasionally I have to park 150-200 meters away. It's a ball ache for the food shop but that's why home delivery was invented 😂

This is really bizarre to me. I genuinely hardly know anyone who DOES have allocated parking. I do live in a city but some of my friends live further out in the more suburban areas.
I know two people who have drives. The rest all park wherever they can

There will be less and less car ownership in the future so I don't think it will be a mistake.

I have lived in two flats. One had a designated parking space, one didn't. However, flats annoy me regardless, as I love the freedom of being able to walk out of the front door and get into the car, whereas in the flat it's going down the corridor, getting in the lift and going down, walking to the other end of the corridor to the car park doors, then walking to the far end of the car park, which is of course where my space had to be!

Some flats have brilliant parking, others don't. But then again, not everyone drives - so of course it's not going to be an issue for everyone!

It wouldnt bother me hugely, as long as you actually can park close by at all times. I would do a drive by a few times at different times of day, like evenings and weekends to see how busy it really gets

ANYTHING that’s less than ideal cuts down your potential market, but you only need one buyer. It’s a lovely flat, walking distance to cafes,shops,parks...selling won’t be an issue.

I don't think it's a dealbreaker. If you're only thinking of this issue in terms of resale, whilst it might be a problem for some, there will be plenty for whom it isn't, so you'll still be able to sell it.

It sounds like the joint FH might put more people off though.

If you don't drive, the parking isn't a big deal. It's probably in a good location for shops, bars etc and public transport. It's not near a station.
Parking permits don't normally cost much - you can find out on the council web site.
Visitors don't like not being able to park right outside but it's in the town centre, it's unlikely to have free parking.

I'm in my fifties and I've never lived anywhere with a 'designated' parking space since I left home! I don't live in London or a big city either.

I have never had a designated parking space. My house I recently left and rented out didn't and was tucked away. It 'sold' twice (fell through both times) and rented out easily.

Wouldn't bother me, lots of much less nice flats don't have parking and if there's permit parking nearby that's a nice option.
