Replacing oven element

Hi

Heating element in oven blew up today (I'm assuming - electrics tripped while oven was on and now the oven is only getting warm not properly hot)

After a google it seems relatively easybto change the element myself - but am I kidding myself? Has anyone here done it and found it doable?

On the other hand the oven is a cheap crappy one put in by thr landlord who used to own our house and I'm wondering if it might be worth just replacing.

We had sold our house when this happened and I didn't want to pay £90 to get it fixed when we were moving out days later.

Watched a YouTube video and it seemed so easy.

So I bought the part online, it came and wasn't the right size despite then saying it wld fit but got my money bk. I then only had a couple of days before exchange but managed to find a local firm that had one in stock.

So I fitted it myself which was very simple. However, we did have an issue! It was an integrated oven and the cable at the back was really short just enough to connect it but when I was trying to connect it, it slipped out my hand and slipped down the back of the unit! We had to pull out the oven and place onto a high unit (which we had to bring for upstairs to keep it on as it was so heavy. Long story short we got it fixed but how in the end I wished I had just paid someone to fix it 😂 was so stressful.

Is try it again though so wasn't that bad!

Hi, I fixed mine twice (first one lasted 3 years). Like Shelby30, I watched a tutorial on YouTube. Was a bit fiddly but definitely doable, and far cheaper than calling someone out to do it

We replaced the oven when the element went. It was the one put in when the house was built and I got a good deal on the new oven (I.e. it cost over £600 and got it for £290). As you can tell 5 years later it is still making an impression on me

Hi guys - unfortunately it's such a cheap crappy old oven they don't sell any parts for it apart from wire racks. Will have to invest in a new one. Thanks for the advice and help though
