Help to buy in London

DS has been looking at the help to buy scheme. Does anyone have good or bad experience of it?

The biggest downside (to me) is that you have to buy a new build, which will depreciate as soon as it becomes “used”.

Also, is it possible to bargain down the price developers are quoting, as you normally would, or do you end up paying the listed price as there is limited property available on this scheme?

Has anyone used this scheme?

He will spend money on furniture etc it s not a cheap(er) option vs renting ....but I can see short term attractiveness to stay in great location own space etc.
Just be aware that it might not still be great financially in 5 years when stuck. But he can deal with that then...and if salary will go up he may be able to deal with any "losses". He can see it as a form of secure renting
