Wallpaper/feature wall

Debating whether to repaint whole bedroom or to have a feature wall papered wall. DH wants to and I'm not sure - is it becoming a bit passé now? This isn't going to be our forever house and I don't want to be doing major redecorating in a few years to sell.

What do you think?

but would expect a drop in price to reflect a complete decoration so would others

Do people really expect a drop in price just because their taste doesn’t coincide with the previous owner’s?

@smugmug That is such rubbish! Unless you're factoring in very expensive redecorating costs, like super dark paint, textured wallpaper, or seriously dated decor etc that cost is part & parcel of house buying.

Chances of me having the same taste in decor as previous owner is slim!

The OP still didn’t want the wallpaper wall! Yes, decoration does matter. Stripping wallpaper is a faff and if two houses are similar, some people would go for a cleaner look.

OP: stick to your guns!

So thanks to everyone for their opinions. End result is that we're not having a feature wall. It's going to be neutral and dressed to our combined taste.

Which actually has pretty much been our style for 20 years Grin. Maybe I am a bit stuck in my ways.

No you are not! Look at the web site I mentioned for lovely ideas. Many of the beds have cushions too!

Just pulled up the House and Garden website. The featured house has artistically arranged cushions on the bed (for the photos presumably because obviously you can’t actually get into a bed with several cushions arranged right in the middle of it). The pocket doors into the hall are wallpapered (so much more on trend than a feature wall) Confused, the downstairs loo is papered with old match labels and one of the bathroom walls has a printed list of tube stations on it.
