Installing Washer Dryer

Hope someone can help as we are less than useless!

Firstly what is the pointy thing under my sink that I connect the WD drain pipe to? It looks like it is sealed off? Do I cut the pointy thing (spigot??) then connect the drain pipe and tighten with the white seal thing or chuck away spigot (??) shove drain hose in then tighten with white stupid seal thing?

Secondly, what is the best way to arrange my WD so as to ensure clean siphoning off water please?! It's a gap next to sink under draining board, there is a gap at the top to allow a hose to reach pipes but the WD drain part come out of the middle bottom of the WD not the top as shown in diagrams!

Thirdly and finally, when a miracle happens and we manage to successfully fit it, does the cold blue tap thing always need to be turned on as I got sprayed in the face (!) and then just decided to turn whole water thing off with stop cap???

I'm sorry to be such a pain, I've never anything like this before and if someone could help me I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you in advance!

you cut the tip off the spigot at push the hose onto it. The hose goes on the outside of the spigot/

Please posts photos of each "thing"

and also of the waste/trap assembly under your sink.

The waste hose has to be looped up from the spigot, to the height of the underside of the worktop or draining board. One way is to screw cuphooks to the unit and tie the hose to it, another, when you are making a hole in the unit side or back for the hose, is to drill or cut it right at the top.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to ensure that I siphon the dirty water correctly either!

it has a pump.

MrsCBM · 06/10/2019 19:45

Okay but don't you have to make sure it is a certain height off the ground etc? I just don't want to get it wrong! :)

you need to loop the waste hose up to the bottom of the worktop. Both the pump in the washing machine, and the sink trap and plughole, are below this level, so the high loop prevents water flowing when it is not being pumped.

A common mistake is to lay the wastepipe without this loop, enabling dirty sink water, tealeaves, peas and bacon fat, to run down into the washing machine.

Well the only way I can get the hose to reach the spigot is under the worktop as you can see from the 3rd picture so does does mean that it's all sorted?

Finally, does it matter which cold water fill I use? I have 1 blue and then a blue and red almost together. I was just going to use the blue one that by itself??? And am I right in thinking that once its connected, I turn on the blue tab as I did it before I'd connected anything and got sprayed on the face! Blush and the I just always leave the cold water thing on provided there is something connected? I dont turn it off and on when I want to use the WD????

Thanks again you are a star!

Red is hot water.

The connectors you have are probably a hot and cold for a washing machine, and a cold for a dishwasher.

The instructions will say turn off when not in use.

Most people just leave the valves permanently on. As you are just connecting yours for the first time it might be a good idea to turn it off after use in case there is a drip or leak. Many modern machines have the filling hose in a sort of translucent sleeve with a box at the end that is a leak detector, but it will not help if the leak is at the valve.
