Vendors are getting impatient

We got an offer accepted about a month ago. My conveyancers haven't done a thing as they're waiting from a document from my exHs solicitors regarding a transfer of equity.

Vendors want to complete in a month! But that seems completely unrealistic. No chain involved in either side, just that piece of paper.

If he frustrated if I had offered on a house and you hadn’t done anything for a month. Wouldn’t you?

Rainbowhairdontcare · 02/10/2019 16:21

I would, but it's completely out of my hands. Plus I've gathered all the other documentation that is needed, just that piece of paper that has become the sticking point. We've paid all fees and given all other documents.
We got a conveyancer within hours of the offer being accepted, it has been unfortunate but out of our control.

I can offer to pay some extra ££ but not for now.

You need to put pressure on your solicitor to communicate with the other solicitor. Is the document held by your ExH solicitor?

Countrylifeornot · 02/10/2019 16:25

Well of course they are pissed off. They could pull out or stick with the purchase, who knows.
Could you not have go the documents together before putting the house up for sale?

Legomadx2 · 02/10/2019 16:28

I would be frustrated too! If I were them I'd be looking for a more actionable buyer.

Mildura · 02/10/2019 16:35

Not surprised they are pissed off.

Also not sure why your conveyancer is unable to be getting on with everything else in the meantime.

OtraCosaMariposa · 02/10/2019 16:37

My conveyancers haven't done a thing as they're waiting from a document

So who's putting pressure on the solicitors? Or is everyone just sitting waiting? Do the conveyancers know what they are doing with the transfer of equity?

You need to push things along and start hassling. Or risk losing your new property.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 02/10/2019 16:37

We were misinformed about it. My exH has the money in the bank.

My divorce solicitors said it could be done DIY. Then Others that it would take a week. But it's now three weeks and counting...

I would be fed up too. Can't you contact your Ex or your Ex's solicitor directly to get the piece of paper?

As others have said, not sure why the conveyancer can't be getting on with the other stuff.

I think my conveyancer is at fault. Searches could have been started The moment I paid them.

I'm not selling anything. It's the people I'm buying from who are getting frustrated.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 02/10/2019 16:47

Exactly Hugo that's why I think my conveyancers are being useless. Nothing is stopping them to start doing the other bits.

Countrylifeornot · 02/10/2019 16:49

Are they a firm of conveyancers or a solicitors firm?
Conveyancing firms in my experience tend to be cheap, shit, and responsible for more delays than anything else.
Next time I sell I'll be specifying that my buyer is to use an actual solicitor if they wish to buy my house, my last sale was delayed by a month due to shit conveyancing and a buyer who wanted to save a few quid.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 02/10/2019 17:16

It's a conveyancing firm but they came highly recommended. I'm thinking to use a different one and suck it up
