Just about to set up an air bnb. Would you be happy with these plus a chest of drawers or would you prefer a wardrobe. Please can you let me know why you have your preference. TIA

I'd be fine with those.

I wouldn't mind those open rail thingys, as long as they aren't wobbly. Some on them are no good if you put coats and winter stuff on them as they can't take the weight.

As for hangers, I am not keen on the thief proof ones but I would use them in your situation, they always go missing otherwise, along with pillowcases and towels. You could put some really cheap ones, like you get when you buy supermarket clothing, on the end in case people want to hang stuff up elsewhere.I know it won't add to the luxury though.

I think the ikea one looks quite sturdy. I think I will get one to see if I like it.

I prefer open wardrobe/rails for hotels and holiday places- less likely to forget stuff.
I get a bit irked by all "captive" hangers though- give us one or two normal ones so we can steam creases out if things in the bathroom!

Starrynights86 · 03/10/2019 17:12

I quite like both of them. We have a hanging rail in our spare room for guests as that room doesn’t have a built in wardrobe. Takes up less space and looks nice.

Really good point about steaming in the bathroom. I'll keep some normal hangers too

I have one of these in mind as a wardrobe doesn't fit. I think it looks nice. They are bloody expensive, mine was £350 from John Lewis. I can't understand why it was so much for a rail. It's not even great quality but I was desperate after the wardrobe wouldnt go up the stairs!

bluejelly · 04/10/2019 22:16

I'd be very happy without a wardrobe, especially for the short-term.

SeekingShade · 05/10/2019 09:51

I much prefer them to wardrobes, which I always think are fussy and old-fashioned in holiday accommodation.

pombears2008 · 05/10/2019 16:25

Dd has the first ikea white one as her wardrobe and it's very sturdy, uses the spaces in the bottom for their fabric boxes and that's her chest of drawers. More than suitable for an Airbnb

Decent lighting makes things feel high end IMO. Lamps, lots of lamps. I hate going away and having to sit under a 60 watt bulb all evening.

SwedishEdith · 05/10/2019 21:07

God, yes, to lamps. Have sometimes resorted to bringing lamps from the bedroom to living areas in the evening. And more mirrors. I want to be able to look at my hair as I dry it.

thisisallnewtome8 · 05/10/2019 21:18

Absolutely agree about lamps. I have always made sure with the other ones we have that there's always really nice lighting with lots of lamps.
