Horsell (Woking) - How is to live in Horsell as a working/commuting mum?

Hello,
We are considering moving to Horsell with a 3 year old next year and I am looking for information/guidance on nurseries (private), primary and secondary schools, commuting and houses please. How easy is to find a good childminder please? I appreciate that the questions are very open, we looked online and Horsell ticks all our boxes but I would like to hear the opinions/views of the other mum/dads that live in the are too.
Would anyone help please? :)
Thanks in advance.

We looked there but ended up staying in London. The main reason I was uncomfortable moving out of London was - what happens if there is a problem with the trains and both me and DH were stuck in London? I just couldn’t get past this. Obviously isn’t an issue if one of you works more local and one in London or even if you have family near by maybe that would be ok but we didn’t.

It did look like a lovely village!

Same as Waterdrops. Seriously considered but worried about both of us commuting in case we had to rush back as we don't have any family/relatives/friends in the area to help. Another issue was that we were not sure about the schools but it might be due to lack of research on our part. We really liked Horsell so it was a shame. Good luck.

That's a good starting point when it comes to schools. Will you have missed the application deadline for reception or not? If not, then you could buy in your chosen catchment.

Horsell as in by Woking ? It's really nice, but not particularly a village to me, just a small area just out from Woking town centre. Woking is fine, it's not stunning. You can find a few chain shops and restaurants, but it's not a main shopping area. You'd probably need to go to Kingston or Guildford for more variety.

You'd be getting the fast train from Woking yes? It's 25 minutes fast to London. If there is an issue they tend to cancel trains, but in rush hours there are a lot so not a big issue unless all train are cancelled out of Waterloo. Sometimes they run slower and stop everywhere.

Parking quite expensive in Woking , maybe you get a bit less if you buy a season ticket for a car park. You could walk form
Horsell but it's about 30 mins. I used to see people walking all the time.

I think the main thing would be when do you plan to travel back to get your child from childminder or nursery? I'd expect both usually will finish at 6pm so check when the fast trains are, you don't want to end up on a stopping one taking an hour or you'll need to leave work so much earlier. Would you be travelling from
Waterloo or somewhere else? Some stop at Clapham junction, but not in rush hour in the morning and some in rush hour evening go from Clapham junction, but it's more limited.

Hello Again,
Thank you all - yes, I am referring to Horsell in Woking. I would go to Waterloo. Any suggestions for nurseries?
