Large north facing living room

Hopefully moving into an Edwardian maisonette soon. Been renting for 15 years so am heartily sick of magnolia! Living room is large, north facing, with a big bay window, a smaller window, high ceilings, cornicing and a beautiful original teal fireplace. Original wooden floors in good condition. Budget isn’t huge but we should have £8-10K to spend on the living room.

Any pictures/suggestions of some lovely rich colours in such a big space? Or instagram suggestions? Planning to zone it into sitting area and a reading area at the back so happy to consider more than one colour/some wallpaper too!

Sounds great paranormal I have a north facing sitting room and I love it, cool in the summer cosy in the winter.
For colours and stuff it maybe better to put this on decorating board. I'm very boring it's all almond white in my house, as close to magnolia as dammit Grin

Houzz is a great website for inspiration.

We painted our north facing living room a farrow and ball colour Inchyra blue (well it was colour matched to this)
Initially it did seem quite a dark colour (it’s more a green/grey/blue colour) but I think the room looks so much more dramatic, cosier and when you start to accessorise with lighter colours it looks great. Pictures stand out a lot better too.
Will try to attach some pics though it looks better in real life!

We've got an internal snug room that was originally a dining room. It's a 1930 semi which we have extended. It has original fireplace , surround and wooden floors. It now has no windows (a bit of an L shape off the large kitchen diner). We massively needed to add light. We painted the walls and surround white, the wall behind fireplace teal and we had to cover the wooden floors with a white/ grey good quality lvt. We had no choice really as needed to add light. Put nice funky mirrors up and indoor plants and imo it looks fab!

Henrysmum that’s a lovely room! I’ve been thinking about embracing the darkness and going with a colour like that and having lighter coloured furniture and white shutters maybe.

I like colours like F and B Oxford stone or Joa's White . It's easy for a north facing room to look cold with blues and greens.

Henrysmum - that looks fab, we currently have one side, one wall (north facing) painted in a dark blue/grey (Crowns Aftershow) which I love and so far seems pretty durable. The other walls are white. I often wonder what it would be like to paint the opposite wall as well, or indeed all the walls, our lounge is approx 19x13ft & light does flood in, patio doors one end & a large window at the other. DH isn’t keen on the idea though of having the colour on any of the other walls. We have a light colour sofa & wooden furniture too. Mmmm May have to show him your pic!

Ours is same era and direction. We have F&B a mix of Archive on some walls and Eating room red on others. White woodwork and ceiling.
