Help! Preparing for estate agent photos with newborn

Feeling a bit overwhelmed and would be grateful for some clear thinking! We are selling our flat and the photos are being taken tomorrow. I had booked a cleaning company to do a deep clean but they have cancelled just now with no notice. I now need to do the cleaning and staging today whilst looking after my 6 week old DS. He has reflux and cries all day/ night - any advice on what I should focus on (mainly manageable with a sling)? Will be able to do some this evening when DH is home but will have DS3 to contend with too.

Put off the Estate Agent for a few day and book another cleaning company you’ve already got your hands full Flowers

Can you delay the photos and get the cleaners (maybe different ones!) in tomorrow?

If you get the photos done tomorrow they probably wouldn’t go up till Monday anyway so you’d only lose one day.

Change the estate agent.

MusicMother · 12/09/2019 10:44

Thanks, really good to hear some common sense - delaying hadn't even occurred to me in my panic! @Span1elsRock, why do you say we should change estate agent?

Delay the photos! It's a mistake not to be prepared for them as rubbish photos could impact on interest in your property and the price. I'm sure they'll rearrange.

Sorry, i meant the day of the estate agent.

MusicMother · 12/09/2019 10:52

Phew that makes sense - was worried for a sec!

Agree with PP to delay photosif you can, but from experience of doing this recently with a 4 week old, things to focus on while you have them in a sling/bouncy seat:

  • Put things you need easy access to into a basket/other easily transportable device so they can be moved out of the way quickly when needed.
  • Clear all surfaces.
  • Clean and fresh bedding on beds for photos, beds made. Preferably ironed.
  • If possible, collect all the toddler toys together so they can be quickly tidied away. They always look a mess in photos otherwise.

@gothicsprout thanks so much for these tips! Have rearranged for this week coming so will take heed of all your very practical advice.

Don’t worry too much about cleaning, a bit of dust won’t show on a photo! Put clutter in bin bags and bung it in the garage or car boot.

The oven is also a very good place to hide kitchen clutter for photos (and viewings).

Just don't leave it in there when you cook next....Grin
