2.5 x 2.15, too small for dining table?

We're looking at a house with a space attached to the kitchen currently being used as a study. Ideally we'd like to cram our dining table (8 seater, 90cm wide) in there.. is this too small to be functional? Would an 80cm table be better?

You need a smaller table. You have to be able to walk around the table to sit at the other side and pull out the chair to sit

I don't think you can squeeze any size table into a box room. An 8-seater table will itself be over 2m long.

With the area knocked through to the kitchen, you could make it into a breakfast nook with banquette seating which is a great space saver. Like the sort of thing in the picture.

I was going to say the same as the last poster - built in banquette seating and a smaller table. Is there another room you can use as a formal dining room?

There's a through lounge, but it's not huge so I'd prefer to use this space

Oops, posted too soon! So attached is a super rough guide to the space. Ot's oodn plan but with a slight lip/1cm step along the dotted line

Would banquet seating work with a long table? We'd like an 8 seater for Christmases etc

I'm sure you could work something out. Built in seats along the WC wall and the opposite wall with a table in the middle. Or possibly built ins on one side and chairs on the other.
It isn't a massive space but having a few people over wouldn't be dissimilar to sitting in a restaurant when you think about it.

Cozy bench seating on the inside rather than chairs, that way you can slide along so you won't need as much room.

This what my friends did in a similar space, they created a booth with ready made benches instead of forcing chairs into the space
