what accent colour for bathroom??

We're currently having a new bathroom replaced and going from hideous tiles to something much plainer. White metro tiles on 3 walls and half way up the fourth. White suite. Dark grey tiles on floor. It is lovely but very monochrome. We have the upper half of one wall which will need painted.

I am thinking a bright colour to put some brightness into the room. It is north facing but with a big window to let in light. We overlook fields only and there's frosted glass so I don't think we'll be adding a blind as that would be the obvious way to add light.

Lime green? Orange? Bright pink??

I’m not sure that a very bright colour will look that lovely. I’d maybe hang up a picture or decoration or brighten things up with a nice bath mat, towels, soap bottle etc

We have white metro tiles (at a 45 degree angle) and grey floor tiles, so we went for dark blue paint and black accessories (taps, shower screen, loo roll holder, etc)

It's been plastered and has to be painted anyway. Might try the colour and if it looks rubbish, we can always just paint white over the top.

I'm not a fan of "accesories" in the bathroom. The whole point of getting a vanity unit was so that all of the gubbins can be hidden away out of sight.

I think that you could go with one of those colours - but with more subtlety and depth - so have a look at the farrow and ball paint colours and filter the reds and greens. A flat pink/orange/green against stark white might be a bit garish - but if you put a sort of dulled Hermes orange etc it would look still dramatic but more sophisticated IMHO.

I would hate a bright colour paint in a bathroom. I would look at Mizzle by F&B. Or Cornforth White or even Elephants Breath or Borrowed Light. Or a huge mirror! You can buy some nice towels with colour in them. I’m assuming you don’t put them away!

I think a bright colour might look garish. Agree Borrowed Light is good. Or Dix Blue or Stone Blue.

I tried Little Greene's Citrine once in a monochrome bathroom - Christ, it was horrible in there.

Another way to add a splash of colour is colour blocking your shower/bath screen. Super easy to change/clean and not as solid as a wall colour...

Use towels for colour and a nice plant. That way you can change them if you fancy.

How about red?

Bright colours look tacky in bathrooms. As someone else suggested, how about more muted versions of those colours, or looking at more blue/grey tones? Peignoir by F&B is a beautiful pink, and as previously suggested Borrowed Light is a perfect colour for a bathroom.

I have a black and white bathroom with dark grey floor. It has a big window so it's very bright. I've kept accessories to a minimum. I have some natural light weave baskets on a ledge, grey stone pot for tooth gubbins, small stainless steel bin and grey and white towels.

If I had a wall to paint I'd proably go for something like Brassica from F&B, dramatic but great with grey and white(have it in my kitchen).
