Stinky basin

The basin in DD’s ensuite shower room stinks.

I’ve tried putting down bleach, soda crystals and also one of those sink unblocker twiddly things.

I even had dynorod round but as the water is flowing freely they didn’t do anything.

It used to be our bathroom and it didn’t stink then, but nothing has particularly changed.

It seems to be plumbed in to the main bathroom (which is adjacent) as they sometimes glug sympathetically but the main bathroom basin doesn’t stink.

Any ideas?!

Have you tried plunging it after running hot water? Usually brings up horrid sludgy black stuff that the bleach doesn’t get rid of.

Thanks... not sure where our plunger went. Good idea.

The stinky bit might be in the overflow rather than the main drain.

I gave our sink a good plunging recently - brought out a big mat of only slightly stinky hair and sludge, but has definitely improved the bathroom aroma! Needed a long hook (just a bent wire) to get all the stringy bits out.
