Does rent include council tax?
Generally speaking I mean. Do most landlords cover the council tax in the rent they charge you or do you have to find that on top of the rent?
Asking as we are selling and moving to rented....long story.

TIA.

Xx

Rent is separate unless in a bedsit/studio/room type of let where it tends to be included ime.

The last time we rented we paid our own council tax.

Council tax separate to rent I mean!

Tenants pay the tax, IIRC. We used to rent out our house, and we didn't pay council tax out of the rent revenue.

I rent out a house and we ask for rent and the tenants pay the council tax. We asked the council what was the best way and they advised us that the tenant should pay the council tax.

I've rented for years and always paid council tax on top, unless I didn't qualify to pay (ie student) HTH

We rent and pay council tax ourselves.

The only time a landlord is actually legally responsible for paying council tax in case anyone out there is interested is when it is multi-occupied. ie where they rent individual rooms out so you only have access to your bedroom and then any communal area such as kitchen/lounge. Mostly student lets.

Oh and watch for any landlord retaining any part of the property for himself ie a locked room where they store their stuff as technically you don't have access to the entire property.

No, no, I don't miss my job billing and collecting council tax and buisness rates at all, happy SAHM! (most of the time)
