Purple bricks

Just wondering if anyone has bought a property through purple bricks? We put an offer in on a house on Wednesday evening. We spoke to the owners and they accepted the offer.
We had an email from purple bricks to say they would be in touch but haven't heard anything yet.
What are buyers experiences with purple bricks?

We bought our house though purple bricks it was really easy and to be honest we had very little contact from them went direct to the people we were buying from most of the time. We put an offer in 3rd of june and it was all done and and we moved in on the 4 of August.

Pipandmum · 24/08/2019 21:38

Hate them. They don’t know anything about the property they are selling and it relies on the owner following through.
But a couple days is not long. Did you give them your solicitor contact details? That would be next step.

threesenoughthanks · 24/08/2019 21:39

Thanks Harley that's reassuring. It just seems so strange to be dealing with the owners. Fingers crossed for smooth sailing.

Pip we are just waiting for them to get in touch so we can give them our solicitors details.

I’ve had nothing but awful experiences with purple bricks and their wanky online platform. Hugely useless staff too on all levels - i lost a sale due to their incompetence

You’ll have to work hard with them op - belt and braces approach. Double check everything

Never use them if you can help it, they’re dreadful in my experience

threesenoughthanks · 24/08/2019 21:46

Oh heck. I might regret starting this thread Steak. The sellers are keen to move with the chain waiting for them so hopefully that might help.

My sister in law sold her house through Purple Bricks a couple of years ago. It all went smoothly & happened very quickly. She said she'd use them again.

threesenoughthanks · 24/08/2019 21:54

Well thats evened things up a bit funmummy. I guess there are to be good and bad stories whatever the estate agents.

We sold through Purple Bricks. They did nothing at all once we had accepted the offer, it was all done by us or the solicitors.

They were utterly useless, and dont ever be taken in by the reviews. I put a scathing (but factual) review on Trust Pilot and they challenged it immediately, insisting it was removed. In order for it to be reinstated I had to provide evidence. Most people probably can't be arsed to do this so many negative reviews remain offline.

threesenoughthanks · 24/08/2019 23:40

Sorry, I was watching the football. By the sounds of it, Barbera, people have bad experiences selling but hopefully that doesn't apply to buying too.

They are truly awful, but if you like the house & are aware you need to do all the chasing yourself then go for it!

JHaniver · 25/08/2019 08:56

The vendors of the house we’re buying used PurpleBricks. I’d much rather have dealt with an estate agent rather than the vendors directly, but the main issue was that PB gave us the hard sell to use their conveyancers (multiple phone calls and emails despite us telling them we’d picked our own) and they passed the details of the vendors solicitors on, but it turned out to be completely wrong firm.

Batinahat · 25/08/2019 09:01

We bought and sold using PB at the same time so have experienced both sides. For us there were lots of positives, mostly being able to communicate directly with the sellers and our buyers meaning we could check how everything was progressing instead of relying on estate agents to pass messages. I liked having that communication channel. The only sticking point really for us was that the people we bought from had opted to use PB's conveyancers, EZconveyancing. They were shocking and were the source of the only delays and mistakes. However we just kept communicating with the sellers and our solicitors and we survived it. So my experience is that PB as estate agents - no probs at all. PB solicitors - awful! We sold with PB but opted to use our own proper solicitor and the difference really showed. When it came to conveyancing I think you get what you pay for. I wouldn't say the same with estate agents!

HaroldThatsEnough · 25/08/2019 09:08

Never use their conveyancers! My conveyancer said her heart sinks if she has to deal with them during a transaction, they are utterly useless.

beccarocksbaby · 25/08/2019 09:23

I sold through them earlier this year, we did the majority of the work and then once appointed solicitors they did the work.

PB were perfectly professional, sold our house in a week but distant. They sell on a commission basis and their wage is poor so they have to have a lot of balls in the air. Depending on the person they can be slow. A couple of days in a house sale is not much time, we took 11 weeks to complete with only 3 people in the chain!

It's August and a bank holiday weekend, you'll need to be patient!

threesenoughthanks · 25/08/2019 10:48

So a hard pass on their conveyance service but everything else should be okay. I know it's bank holiday and wasn't expecting much at all to be done I just thought they would have been in touch to ask for our solicitors details. Or at least to check we were genuine buyers.
Thanks for all your tips everyone

We brought our first house through them this year. As first time buyers it wasn't great for us, everything had to go through the seller directly (he chose the basic package) and the portal was useless. We had no chain and the sale took 5 months. Our solicitor said it was one of the worst transactions she had ever had - if they are using PB solicitor package you may be in for a rough ride. We had to threaten to pull out at month 4 just to exchange, no chain, good searches just rubbish solicitors with too much work. We swore never to use them again. I hope you have more lick.

AmyWinehouse27 · 25/08/2019 23:11

I work for Purplebricks all you need to do is to call the post sales they are really helpful

threesenoughthanks · 26/08/2019 00:08

Thanks Nikkinak. Sounds like I might need it.....no offence Amy Smile

In process of selling property now-everything is really done through the online app-from putting offers in to seller accepting or re negotiating if offer not what they are looking for-you should be able to upload/enter your solicitors details on the pb app where you can track progress - having said that we had to ask pb to forward again the buyers details to the conveyancing team though once online it's really easy to track and upload any info requested

threesenoughthanks · 26/08/2019 12:59

Thanks Doc. I think we'll let the bank holiday pass and then start getting organised tomorrow Smile

I’ve had friends do it and say it was great. We will try next time as I hate our current (reputable, local) wanky agents who never give me a straight answer. Now in direct contact with buyer and seller.

threesenoughthanks · 26/08/2019 17:19

That's certainly an advantage Poo. Our sellers are a lovely retired couple who couldn't be more helpful. It makes it a much more pleasant experience. I guess there is the downside that if your sellers or buyers are wankers you have the added stress of dealing with that

KnobJockey · 26/08/2019 19:03

We have just bought through pb and completed this week. We literally haven't heard from the estate agent since she asked for our solicitors details. Luckily, we had our sellers details direct and had local solicitors who we were happy to chase directly.

threesenoughthanks · 27/08/2019 12:27

We spoke to the sellers direct gave them our solicitors details which they passed on to their solicitor. Hopefully that will get the ball rolling.
