North facing garden

Help! Seriously considering a house with kitchen/diner and garden North facing. Can anyone share good news stories on their North facing garden?
We’re South facing at the moment and often find it too hot so quite happy with a bit of shade but don’t want constant gloomy. It is a new build so plenty of windows and doors leading into kitchen. Hit me with your positive stories please!

I have got a small north facing garden - it gets sun at the far end early in the day moving through the garden to a sunny patio next to the house in the evening. Too much sun for a lot of shade living plants to thrive - I love it.

Ours faces east, built a patio at the bottom of the garden to catch the sun in the evening

North facing & hate it to be honest.

Hopefully the photo attaches ok, but you can see that most of the garden is in the shade (3 storey townhouse) on a gorgeous day like this. If it was a longer garden at the back, it would be better - so definitely consider building height versus length of garden.

Hopefully my laundry will dry over the next few hours when the sun comes round.

Most of the day the garden is in darkness & it's very hard to grow grass - the ground can get boggy/wet.

Thanks for everyone’s comments. Sorry to hear that MoreProseccoNow. Do you mind me asking roughly how long your garden is? This is one of the things I’m trying to work out. Do you get any sun in your garden?

I'd say about 25/30 ft at most; the main issue is the combination of north facing plus 3-floor house.

The bottom 5 foot or so gets decent sun so there is a patio there & some chairs.
