Changing the ratio of an integrated fridge freezer; will it work?

Hi all
I have an integrated 50/50 fridge freezer which needs replacing. I now have a big freezer in the garage so I want to change the ratio to 70/30 as we are desperately in need of more fridge space.
I can't replace the doors, so I think the only way would be to fix the 2 doors together with a bracket so they open together, so both fridge and freezer would open every time.
Is this crazy? Has anyone done this and did it work?
Thanks

Can you set the appliance up a bit so the divide is at the higher spot ? ( ok if you are tall)

It would work, but it'd be massively unfriendly for the freezer - they're designed to be opened a couple of times per day.

I'd bracket the doors together so the freezer stayed shut even though the cupboard door opened and then rig another handle to open the freezer.

Also, why not replace the doors???

If you have all wood or something that can't be matched - go the opposite way and get some aluminium ones in the correct ratio that make a point of looking like an appliance

DH just had a good idea, having a massive full height fridge with an ice box (we only need it to keep a few bits handy in). I imagine modern iceboxes are pretty effective?

You could do that.

Or just take off the doors and buy a freestanding fridge-freezer to put in the space.

we are having this same dilemma and your DH is thinking like us but full height fridges with ice boxes are few and far between and very expensive!
