Private sale - inventory

We've sold our house privately. I've never sold before (DH has). Should we be doing a list of what will stay and what is going?

Oven - fridge etc?

We don't know yet what is staying in new house. I think oven is built in - fridge definitely is.

clueless.

Hmmm - As part of the legals you will be given forms by solicitor that requires clarification of exactly these questions.
We sold a house with built in hob & oven so they stayed but the the freestanding fridge freezer came with us. We left all the carpets but took some of the curtains, we clearly stipulated on the paperwork what exactly we were taking and prepared to leave. Additionally we had a couple of free standing wardrobes we could have left but as the buyers did not want them, I took them to the dump.
Basically should you do a list? Yes! For your own sanity if nothing else. Partly to help complete these legal forms, partly so you can settle things with buyers and not forget stuff, but finally in case you are buying as well and need to understand what you want to take with you.
Good luck

I've bought and sold many times but never done an inventory. That's for rental property, isn't it?

Your solicitor will ask you to complete the standard 'fixtures and fittings' form regarding your sale and you will receive the same regarding your purchase.

@JoanLewis

I think the f & f form (TA10) is exactly what the OP is referring to.

Your solicitor will send you the Law Society forms to complete.

Thank you - that makes sense now!
