Hanging pictures in a bathroom?

We've just moved into a 1920s house. The en suite to our room is big (8' x 9') and only has a bath. It's lovely and airy with a partially sloping roof. My question is whether anyone has successfully hung a framed picture in a bathroom?

We can only afford a mini make-over for now. It's tiled half way up the walls with vaguely art deco stylee tiles. I'm happy to work with these, and have a Klimt picture in mind that would pick out the colours and look fabulous...but my DHL says you can't hang pictures in a bathroom because of the moisture in the air.

There is no shower in this bathroom, and I have a bath in there every other day. Do you think a picture would be OK in this scenario?

(If anyone is interested, the picture in question is The Kiss lol)

We’ve had pictures for years in our bathrooms but they are all well ventilated.

I think you’d be fine especially as there is no shower.

Thank you!

It doesn't have an extractor fan at the mo, but that is on the massive To Do list!

I have a picture hanging in our bathroom but it's in a nice, but cheap, Ikea picture frame and is a picture I'd taken myself so can easily be re-printed. It's been in there a year since with daily showers in the same room and it's still as good as new.

I wouldn't hang originals in the bathroom, but in all fairness if your Klimt print gets a bit spotty you can just replace it?

Thanks all...I'm doing it! Grin

Yes, pictures in main bathroom and ensuite, no problems at all.

OP, if it's a modern print in a modern frame you can make it waterproof. Take the pic apart carefully. Remove the glass (which usually just rests in the frame) and put a small thin bead of silicone in the frame. Replace glass & wipe excess away from outside edge immediately. 'Frog' masking tape around the frame edge stops it getting messed up. Then replace the pic & close the back as normal. Then put another bead of silicone around the back opening. This effectively 'seals' the whole picture & nothing can get in. I have 12 framed fashion prints in a 9X9 bathroom with monsoon power shower & they're all perfectly fine.

Oooh, clever idea @JellyPeanut, thank you!
