Bathroom & ensuite fit out - what would you do differently?

Starting from scratch with main bathroom and ensuite, last done 14 years ago. If you've had yours done recently what were the great successes? Anything you'd change in hindsight?

Main Bathroom is very small, taking out the bath and will have longish rectangular shower in its place. Will get rimless toilet and wall mounted sink/Cabinet.

Ensuite is going to end up bigger than main bathroom as we are knocking through into a useless junk cupboard. Going to put a bath in here with over head shower. (I know this is a bit odd, but I like a bath!)

Would you go for the same decor in each? What must-have things do I need in terms of mirrors, storage etc. Bit baffled by tile choice, any type of tile to avoid?

Thanks for any advice.

Light switch not combined with extractor fan. Separate switches so you can bathe in silence and sneak for a night time pee without disturbing everyone.

Main bedroom light outside en-suite door.

Dimmer light switch in your en-suite so nice when having a soak.

Light up mirrors.

Button to switch shower on outside shower.

Tooth brush / shaver point with a little shelf or in a cupboard.

Toilet and sink solid to wall so no pipes etc showing.

Taps in the middle of the bath with shower head, great for cleaning hair wash and dog. And leg shaving!

Fixed shower head and movable one

Bluetooth mirror (I love mine) unless you’re loaded then get a mirror that converts to aTV

We have stayed in a couple of holiday cottages recently that both had a shelf running along the wall at chest height. That was really useful (one was made from panelling, the other was tiled - both must have been a bit of false wall, possibly hiding pipework etc. One also had a massive mirror taking up the whole width (above shelf). That made tandem tooth brushing etc very easy.

Excellent, thank you all!

Great idea to have a large mirror area, especially in titchy sized main bathroom.

Middle bath taps = yes, definite one. I must book up bluetooth mirrors, (Do you play music through them?) Hmm

Dimmer switch, great idea, hadn't thought of that, likewise fan issue, thanks.

We recently did a bathroom refurb and included this cabinet
www.hib.co.uk/products/cabinets/apex-100/#videocontent
It has 2 integral chargers so one for toothbrush and one for razor so don't have to keep swapping over cables. Nice light soft close doors with mirrors inside as well as out - v useful for checking back of hair!
Glow light for when you don't want main light on.
