Planning question: extend front single dormer to double?

Just that really. Can't get through to the local planning advisor Hmm so asking you lovely knowledgeable people.

We're wondering if permission is ever granted to extend a front dormer these days? It's a converted bungalow. All PD rights prob used up given there's a former loft and huge kitchen extension. So would have to apply for PP? Almost every other house in the street has a full width dormer extension but this on is double at the back, single at the front!

Just trying to work out if possible (and financially worthwhile) to extend it but wondering if planners can get sniffy about front dormers now, even if they've approved them in the past.

Sorry. On phone so incoherent spelling/autocorrect.

Former= dormer
On= one

Yes you would need PP as it is at the front, regardless of other additions.

Do all the other properties have double width dormers at hte front, and are they the same style/similar to yours? If so, it's probably worth aa go. Check the online planning records on your Council website, and see how recently any of them were approved. If within the last couple of years, things look hopeful.

I am assuming not a Conservation Area, Listed Building, Green BElt or countryside location?

Hi. Yes all of the neighbouring properties have front dormers - they're all bungalows, now converted. The attached semi has a double/full width dormer, so there's clearly a precedent!
