Having a wallpaper dilemma. Which do you think is a better option for an open plan living dining room (both with chimney breasts so 4 alcoves)?

  1. paper behind floating shelves in each alcove

  2. paper one whole wall in dining room so to have a "feature" wall but rest of the room neutral

If anyone has any pictures of theirs they would be most welcome!

TIA

Paper one whole wall. Feature walls are only bad when you use "feature wall" wallpaper. They can zone an open plan space if used thoughtfully.
Papering the alcoves is a bit old fashioned to my mind.

Ok thanks for the advice - good to know alcove wallpaper might seem dated! What do you mean by "feature wall" wallpaper...?

Feature walls in a very strong colour or very busy pattern which is a strong contrast to the remaining walls are very dated and a bit Changing Rooms circa 1998. Paper which coordinates with the remaining walls, eg if they are painted in a colour which picks up on the pattern or closely complements it, can look lovely and provide a really effective variety of textures in a room.
