Maybe look around Hammersmith and Ealing?

West Hampstead for the Thameslink to Blackfriars

Full of young professionals! Safe, and although not on direct tube line to Paddington it's an easy change at Baker St.

JoJoSM2 · 04/08/2019 20:37

West Hampstead sound pretty suitable.

JoJoSM2 · 04/08/2019 20:40

Actually, Fulham would also be a very good option with direct tube to Blackfriars and Paddington.

CaurnieBred · 04/08/2019 20:47

East London is where most of the graduates/young people in my company seem to want to live these days (e.g. Whitechapel/Hackney).

Paddington isn't hard to get to on the tube: many tube lines go there including, eventually, the Elizabeth Line. Blackfriars is an easy walk from St Paul's on the Central Line.

JoJoSM2 · 04/08/2019 20:50

@CaurnieBred are you in the creative industries?

CaurnieBred · 04/08/2019 20:53

Def not: couldn't be further away!
Professional services.

Interesting. All the people I know in those areas work in either design or music Grin

Violetroselily · 04/08/2019 21:10

Clapham is pretty popular

Leftiefterson · 04/08/2019 21:11

Hackney, specifically London Fields. I love it here!

Oldermummy2019 · 04/08/2019 21:19

Thank you so much, West Hampstead and Fulham sound ideal. Has Hackney changed? Went there 15 years ago and it was quite intimidating for a small town person like me back then. Will start looking at prices now. Someone suggested Maida Vale, any good?

Hackney is all trendy and expensive these days. It's a very different vibe to West Hampstead or Fulham. Maida Vale is a nice area but I don't know about how many young professionals there are.

Peony99 · 04/08/2019 21:48

I'd go South if her job is in Blackfriars - perhaps Denmark Hill or Hern Hill to get the train straight in.

If she's a new grad, even in the City most salaries won't go too far in Fulham or West Hampstead.

CaurnieBred · 05/08/2019 06:15

Also, at my firm, we quite often have emails going round offering rooms in house shares/looking for rooms. Your daughter could ask the Recruiting Dept admin person to forward her details if her new company has something similar

Totally agree. For young professionals, east London is most definitely where it's at. I'd look at east London along the District and Hammersmith & City lines (then she has District line direct to Blackfriars to work and Hammersmith & City line direct to Paddington). Look at Whitechapel, Mile End, Bow.

Depends on what she likes and the budget. I lived in Clapham, Brixton and streatham during my London years. Clapham far and away my favourite but hugely expensive
