Londoner’s where is a good area to house share for a young Proffessional?

My daughter just gotta graduate job near Blackfriars in central London.She Would like to have easy access to work and Paddington station for visits home and a safe area.

West Hampstead for the Thameslink to Blackfriars

Full of young professionals! Safe, and although not on direct tube line to Paddington it's an easy change at Baker St.

Actually, Fulham would also be a very good option with direct tube to Blackfriars and Paddington.

East London is where most of the graduates/young people in my company seem to want to live these days (e.g. Whitechapel/Hackney).

Paddington isn't hard to get to on the tube: many tube lines go there including, eventually, the Elizabeth Line. Blackfriars is an easy walk from St Paul's on the Central Line.

Thank you so much, West Hampstead and Fulham sound ideal. Has Hackney changed? Went there 15 years ago and it was quite intimidating for a small town person like me back then. Will start looking at prices now. Someone suggested Maida Vale,any good?

Hackney is all trendy and expensive these days. It's a very different vibe to West Hampstead or Fulham. Maida Vale is a nice area but I don't know about how many young professionals there are.

I'd go South if her job is in Blackfriars - perhaps Denmark Hill or Hern Hill to get the train straight in.

If she's a new grad, even in the City most salaries won't go too far in Fulham or West Hampstead.

Also, at my firm, we quite often have emails going round offering rooms in house shares/looking for rooms. Your daughter could ask the Recruiting Dept admin person to forward her details if her new company has something similar

Totally agree. For young professionals, east London is most definitely where it's at. I'd look at east London along the District and Hammersmith & City lines (then she has District line direct to Blackfriars to work and Hammersmith & City line direct to Paddington). Look at Whitechapel, Mile End, Bow.

Depends on what she likes and the budget. I lived in Clapham, Brixton and streatham during my London years. Clapham far and away my favourite but hugely expensive
