Please recommend me a tumble dryer

My tumble dryer has died. It’s ten years old so I’m going to buy a new one since that is probably cheaper than paying for call out charges and parts. If only I wasn’t in a chilly part of Scotland and could rely on sunshine and a washing line!
It can be vented or condenser and not too expensive - under £350.
Has anyone bought one lately they are happy with?

Can anyone recommend a good carpenter in the Peterborough area? We need some doors hanging and can’t seem to find anyone locally who can do it.

Would you consider a gas tumble dryer?

I don’t currently have one but hope to buy one when I get a new kitchen.
Much cheaper to run than electricity.

For an inexpensive drier, a vented one (with a big hose through a hole in the wall) is very simple, has hardly anything to go wrong, needs no plumbing. And is cheap to buy even if good quality.

Exactly the opposite of condensing or heat pump driers.

Have you got a hole in the wall?

I have a Candy condenser tumble dryer. I really recommend it, and quite a bit under £350. It is a smart machine, which you can control by an app on youre phone. I rarely use it, but handy if you are out, or cant be bothered to get out of bed lol.

Just checked, we got a Bosch vented that was a Which best buy at the time, but I don't see it listed now. We like the Bosch brand.

I did look at heat pump machines, but calculated that the extra cost would take ten years to repay in electricity savings, and thought they might not last long enough to be a good decision. We have solar panels so daytime electricity can be cheap.

There are a couple of Beko best buys but it is a budget brand and quality varies.

I have it under a small window so can shove the hose out

Honestly, the cheap tumble dryer I’ve had have been so much better than any mid range/pricey ones.

I currently have an indesit one for £150/180, great.

And a £600 Panasonic one that does everything but dry clothes. (Sings you a tune, lights up blue, energy efficient blah blah blah.)

A builder or plumber can core a neat round hole through a brick wall quite easily, there is a special tool (you can hire them but they are very heavy, and make dust.)

If it was me I'd get a Bosch WTA74200GB £279.00 at PRC direct, or similar (usually price is higher). Sometimes you get a special offer or clearance at places like John Lewis. www.johnlewis.com/browse/electricals/washing-machines-tumble-dryers/tumble-dryers/vented/_/N-afdZ1z0rje4?sortBy=priceLow

But the Beko DRVS83W £220.00 is cheaper and scores about the same.

Thanks everyone. I’ll have a look online.

I love my TD - it was quite cheap, £220 ish about 3 years ago.

It has sensor dry, dedicates dry, big capacity, basically it is fab!
