Freestanding or conventional built-in bath in smaller bathroom with traditional styling?

I have around 1.7m space so can physically fit either a built-in or slipper/ freestanding bath in my bathroom but given the space is relatively cramped with a separate shower unit already, which might look better?

A freestanding bath would 'show' floor underneath which might make the room feel bigger but then a built-in one might look neater. Please help me decide!

I always think built in looks better in a small bathroom

hmmm my heart wants a slipper bath but my head is agreeing built in is better due to the size. Looks sleeker.

Easier to clean a built in one too. Unless you like cleaning in difficult to reach places.

Have you considered the Japanese tub baths ? I don’t know what the free standing baths are like to lie in, how comfortable they are. Cleaning underneath them is probably easy if done regularly with the right equipment. Or just play safe and have a built in bath.

Freestanding baths = style over substance IMO.
For a start, no handy ledges for toiletries, and then all the dust-gathering space underneath.

They look nice, but to me that's about it.

Used to have one in my old house and they are gloriously deep and feel indulgent. Cleaning wasn't so bad other than occasionally the tap section had sort of tall exposed pipes which were annoying.
The Japanese baths wouldn't go style wise.
