How long did it take you to get around to decorating your new house?

We will be exchanging on our first house next week hopefully, leaving a 3-4 week overlap between getting the keys and our tenancy running out.

I want to do a couple of "big" things in that time before we move in, like carpet the upstairs and paint the rooms.

DP just wants to move in and do one room at a time as we save up etc. I am sceptical as I think that life will run away with us and it'll be a huge pita to move furniture once we're in and nothing will get done.

So looking for other people's experiences - either approach!

@PaintedOwls just spam I think.

Congratulations on your new home! It's always worse than you remember but soap, water and paint can do a lot.

We did as much as we could before moving in, budget wise. Made it so much easier before furniture etc was taking up space and having to move it around!

Thank you! Grin I feel like I've been back and forth to Wilko for cleaning supplies a million times already...

No, it's still in our rental flat, we have it until the end of August.

If you're lucky enough to have the option of decorating before you move in then go for it, especially if you're sure you know what you want. We did our house a room at a time as we moved in straight away.
