Velux window blind.

I need a black out blind for the velux windows in my new dorma loft conversion. Is it worth getting the propped branded velux ones or has anyone used one of the many companies that make blinds that fit the velux window for a fraction of the price?

The velux ones seem to clip in where as the non velux branded ones seem to all need screwing in to the frame. The velux ones appeal to me as I'd really rather not screw in to my lovely new windows. But I also don't have money to burn! What has anyone else got for their velux's?

Where do you get knock off Velux from? Asking for a friend, obvs.

I've had both and honestly they're pretty much the same.

Blinds2go usually has a good range.

There are loads on eBay if you just search velux blinds. Or loads of online blind shops make their own to fit velux sizes. Like this one for example, but I've seen cheaper -

Thanks QuestionableMouse where they easy to fit? Do they screw in to the frame?

I have 2 windows with Velux blinds OP.
While the blind itself clicks into place, it still needs the 2 side vertical guides/runners to be screwed into the frame itself.
Very easy to fit though and screws not obvious once everything is in place.
No experience of knock offs.
Velux blackouts very effective.

Rol-Lite do Skye blinds, you just need the code from your Velux window. A local distributor should display on their website. They're really good quality, fit easily and are cheaper than Velux. We've got a couple of them.

That's interesting Wingedharpy, thanks. So the fitting isn't quite what they claim. Good to hear it's an easy job though and it's an effective blackout. I definitely need a good black out. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I'm checking them all out.

Oh, timely thread as need to order these. Does everyone just order blackout even for downstairs? Got them on a SW extension roof and dithering over blackout or "dimout".

QuestionableMouse · 25/07/2019 22:15

I have the black out and it's pretty good. Though spoiled at the moment due to having the window open because of the heat!

I think it screwed in but can't remember. Took maybe 10mins to fit and has been perfect ever since. It's been on 6+ years and still looks like new.

We've got the non velux ones... they're brilliant. Think it was blinds2go.

Jem01 · 27/07/2019 14:02

We went with blinds2go - really pleased with them!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Blinds2go seems a popular choice. That's that sorted!
