Help! Want to squeeze £5k out of buyer

We're on with an online agent so are doing all the negotiating ourselves.

Buyer has offered £280k but we'd accept £285k.. how can we ask for more in a nice way without alienating him?!

Thanks in advance.

Ypsilanti.... if you were willing to pay 10% over then you probably should have just offered full asking price.

Congrats op

Hurrah!

Well yes, in hindsight, but no-one goes in at asking first time around. And I don’t want to pay more than I need to. With regular agents round here it’s indicative offers and then best and final. Of course, I might not have been able to exceed the other offer, but I’m surprised they didn’t at least ask me.

Anyway, moral of the story is that vendors should be more like the OP.
