Getting rid of bath, would you?

I have just moved in to a new property and the family bathroom needs refurbishing.
Currently it has a bath with a shower over it, a basin and toilet. There is also a heated towel rail.
Ideally I would love a separate shower & bath & have had a quotation which makes this possible. However the plumber has visited and looked at the dimensions and it would be a squeeze!
We looked at a short bath & narrower shower but tbh there is no point it getting it any smaller otherwise it is unusable.
The plumber suggested doing away with the bath and having a large shower instead.
Otherwise we recreate what with have with maybe a bigger bath with shower over the end!
Help! I am not sure what to do, would we regret it if we took the bath away?
Anyone done away with their bath?
Did you regret it?

I hate baths. Out it would go.

Hell no - I love a leisurely soak in a nice hot bath every morning now I’m retired! I spent years as a hospital doc, having rushed showers (and praying not to be interrupted by a cardiac arrest call when I was on duty for the weekend).

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
It seems to split opinion!
We have decided to get a quotation for an 1800 shower bath which seems to be the best of both options for us.
If we extend we will have a shower room I think but that is some time in the future perhaps if ever.
I am certainly not looking to move so will do what suits us at the moment

We thought about removing the bath and just having a walk in shower when we redid our bathroom . We decided against it but regret the decision now.

My parents have some health issues which mean that getting into a bath is difficult so it limits them staying with us. We could have easily put a walk in shower in such a way that the plumbing would have been there to replace the bath if it was ever really going to be a problem when we sold.

Do what suits you. It’s not horrendous to get a plumber to put a bath back in as long as the outlets aren’t moved somewhere awkward.

I would buy a house with no bath if I wanted the house and just put one back in. Not a big deal especially in a high value area or desirable street.

We bought a property without a bath knowing we wanted to start a family. It’s not been an issue (we use one of those fold away baby/toddler baths) and wouldn’t put us off buying. Neither DH nor I have time for baths!

We want to rearrange our small bathroom and put a shower in place of the bath. The room is tiny and it would make it so much roomier. We have small kids but they either have a shower or bath in a Flexi tub!
