Would you pay more for a house with a great view?

I’ve been watching those TV shows about house hunting, especially one about Coast vs Country house.

It’s fairly obvious that houses with a great view of rolling hills, lakes or a sea view cost a lot more than a similar house with a view of other houses or commercial buildings, schools etc.

How much more do you think it would be worth it to buy a house with a great view? 15%, 20%, 30% etc.? I’m trying to plan our next move and wondering if I should pay more for a view or just go for a bigger house for the same budget but without anything nice to look at.

Thoughts?

We have fields to four sides, trees, hills and horses that come right up to our fence. And only ten minutes into the city. Love where I live.

I’m so jealous of all your lovely views.
I dream about a sea view.

I live in a city but a freak of topography means that I have an amazing 180 degree view from my upstairs windows

value wise it does not counteract the rubbish school catchment

I'd pay a bit more if I could but certainly not 20% more.

I think I paid more for one house - terraced - because it faced a road T junction with a road going downhill away from my house.

So I didn’t have any houses directly opposite me, and I had lots of light and a nice city skyline view.

Not sure I thought about it explicitly but it really helped the feeling of space and light.

We bought our last house asking price the day we viewed it as the view was wonderful. Thousands of acres of rolling hills, farmland and mountains in the distance. Top of the hill, so even the neighbour behind us was lower down and didn't spoil the view. All the pictures are on my old desktop.
This house we bought from my mother, again top of the hill, end of a cul de sac, facing across the river with fields and farm land on the other side, and out to sea across the bird reserve. Views are on the front, so master bedroom and the living room have all the views. Great sunsets too.
I think it makes it easier to sell with good views, I'm more willing to buy if it somewhere pretty to look at.
