Re-rendering

Our house has brick work on the bottom half which is in really great condition. The top half is pebbledashed and that isn't in great condition. Thinking of starting to get quotes for removal of the pebbledash and re-rendering with something that looks better.

House is aged somewhere between 1910 and 1920. It does have cavity walls because the previous owner has had cavity wall insulation put in. We don't have damp issues now as sorted those out e.g. leaking guttering and removing concrete path which blocked air bricks, but I am conscious of the need for buildings to breathe.

I have googled about lime render but that seems to be more for buildings without cavity walls. I know not to have a cement render.

Any experiences or suggestions on what to use would be gratefully received.

I replaced our pebble dash on 1st floor of 1915 2 up 2 down about 5 years ago. It was painted white so I went with white stones and it looked really good.

All the neighbourhood (zone 3 SW London) was pebble dashed so it was keeping with that. I think rendered looks terrible if it's likely to crack (soft clay etc)
