Did you regret buying an overpriced house?

The housing market is dire where we need to buy. Nothing has come on for over a month. We are renting so in prime position. There is a house with loads of potential for future and in great spot, would we be mad to pay over the odds for it at this brexit clouded time? It’s been on the market for a few months.

House is on at 450k and has been modernised but not to a high spec. They bought it for £350k two years ago : (.

I think I might feel angry at giving these greedy people my money but it’s such a good house...

Hi everyone, thanks for responding quickly. DH and me withdrew our offer today. I was spending sleepless nights worrying about it . We don't know beckhenham and have only been there twice . We also thought the property was nice but were not in love with it. We sort of rushed into it due to the agents and were not feeling comfortable with our decision . Thanks again for the response .

I don't know Beckenham but think it looks lovely. The house itself seems to be far away from Beckenham proper, though. Good luck with your search and hopefully there will be a house that feels just right.

What happened? Did you offer? @ohblahdee

We offered at £410. It’s what we felt it was worth to us as bedrooms were quite small - and we would have to spend a lot extending roof etc.
From as much research as we could do it is worth £400k.
Just as we left EA said they’d had offer for £435k that was turned down. We didn’t know whether to believe him as same EA did same thing to friends. So just stuck with what we thought so we can know we tried and can move on. When we offered the EA (different one) said ‘so shall I tell them your not interested then?’!! Er no, that was an offer!! She is so snooty to us.

Someone may have offered 435 but they will have to stump the extra money when mortgage valuation comes in below that.

I know you shouldn’t think with your heart but we could pay a bit more but I don’t want to give the vendors our money really. I guess we don’t
Feel we ‘have to have it’.
