Are we being ripped off?

Our fence posts have gone and as a result our fence has begun to fall into our garden not dramatically but enough to want it to get sorted before winter and the nasty weather coming in. We have had a quote of £880 to sort which we agreed to under the impression that he would remove all old posts and replace however he has come today and left old posts and put in new ones next to old posts he was here 9am until 2pm with another lad and said he would come back tomorrow to do the other fence (assuming that fence will take the same amount of time)... I know it's hard to know without knowing measurements of our garden we have estimated all together about 14 meters of fence and 9 posts... are we being ripped off?

You've agreed the price for the job so however long it takes them that the price, but I would want the old posts removed. I'd be saying, "you are going to remove the old posts aren't you?" and if he says it'll cost more I'd argue that no one would leave them and would he leave them in his own garden?

I’m assuming he’s nailed the new posts to the old ones so he doesn’t have to dig out the old posts?

Can you take a picture

I'd insist that the old posts are removed, along with the old concrete, before they concrete in new posts.

For fencing I would expect all the old to be removed and replaced by new. How stable will it be if the rickety old posts are being used as support for the new posts? Have you got a written quote stating what would be supplied?
A photo would be helpful.

I'd also expect the old posts removed. This sounds like botch job.

In terms of pricing, it's always advisable to get at least 3 quotes to get a sense of market rates.
