house1

house2

House 2 is a bit quirky and I'm struggling to see past the way it is presented.

House number 1 looks pretty quirky too! What are your DIY skills and DIY budget like? They both look like a lot of work.

lastqueenofscotland · 01/07/2019 12:50

I love the first one

Modestandatinybitsexy · 01/07/2019 12:51

House 2 seems a lot bigger. I don't like that the bedrooms are split on the ground and 2nd floor of house 1.

Have you been to see either of them? I think house 2 might make more sense when you're there. I can also see an opportunity to combine the back of the house for a more coherent kitchen dining and utility.

Mummyshark2018 · 01/07/2019 12:51

One

jollygoose · 01/07/2019 12:54

It would be house No 2 for me, easy enough to move into but looks like it would be easy enough to add value. Also house No 1 is listed which brings its own set of conditions.

PickAChew · 01/07/2019 13:07

Both are listed.

House 1 looks like a nightmare, tbh.

HUZZAH212 · 01/07/2019 13:08

No. 1 seems to have damp problems? Plus the walls look single skin and if it's listed you could have loads of problems with making changes. No. 2 looks like the downstairs rooms are a strange shape and the kitchen is tiny. The outside space is a dumping ground.

OliviaBenson · 01/07/2019 13:10

Both are listed so you need to love them as they are to a great degree. 1 could be more expensive to do up due to its construction.

Have you visited them?

HUZZAH212 · 01/07/2019 13:10

House 2 is there parking out the back?

OhTheRoses · 01/07/2019 13:12

House 3. Modern, with guarantees. I actually like quirky but one doesn't do it for me and two is ramshackle. What else can you get for the money? They both look like money pits.

averythinline · 01/07/2019 13:22

house 2 -favourite lighter looking inside, lot less work- depending on listing you maybe able to so

house 1 looks damp for some reason- dont like the sunken garden but also the walls are really slopey in pitch so nightmare for furniture/tall people

do you really need 4 bed? could dc not share...as there
this easier shape and much nicer outside space

not as pretty but you could do loft?

We've seen house 2 but not house 1, house 1 doesn't have parking from what we can tell.

House 3 & 4 look OK but the bedroom in one is an odd shape and I don't like all the artex ceilings or the fully tiled bathroom so they'd need doing - of course 1/2 need doing a lot more. House 2 is nice but doesn't seem quite right.

This one is over budget but doesn't need so much work but the garden being set across the way put us off. The one we really would like is this but we'd struggle to afford it.

i can see the expensive one looks the nicest :)
you would save money I think as you will not need to do much to it..it does say offers - go and have a look maybe they are open to it.

Sirrah · 02/07/2019 09:30

I'm assuming you know Kington? The second almost certainly doesn't have parking, but that is far from unusual there.

Of the houses you posted, the last is the nicest, but it's close to the bypass. The first two are likely to be money pits.

I do love Kington, it's a great community!

floraloctopus · 02/07/2019 09:59

No, I don't know it that well...we're moving from the other side of Hereford.

It is lovely, very interesting characters but also a lot of people who've moved from the south to retire. Parking is generally tricky in town, I imagine house 2 use the square a bit down the hill. I can't work out where the first is, the town is medieval and has so many little alleys it could be anywhere. Lots of people off the high street seem to park behind the Nisa shop.

I suggest spending a day exploring, getting a feel for the place. Traffic can be a nightmare along the high street, locals ignore double yellow lines. There are several pubs (I think 6?), a couple of chippies last time I was there, and the Burton has a swimming pool. Public transport is patchy, Sergeants run hourly buses to Hereford MON-SAT but they stop around 5.30 now.
