Diykitchens recent experience

Just wondering if anyone could share their recent experiences if diykitchens please. I know there have been problems with there new machinery- has this caused anyone delays? Or poor product quality? How have they coped with resolving issues? Any tips for visiting the showroom?

Agree if you have problems the best way to get it sorted is to leave an honest review 😂 I was getting nowhere with getting anything sorted until I did that. Then I had son of owner call me within a couple of hours and the missing parts (which allegedly took a week to produce) plus a fitter arrive next day.

Felt like a bit of a slap in the face though, I only got listened to once I complained publically.

They've been OK with us. Our units arrived promptly and were installed last week. No problems that we are aware of (yet).

Just bumping to see if anyone else has recent experiences to share... particularly anyone who has had a painted kitchen. Thanks.

TheFatberg · 10/07/2019 12:22

@Summergarden a few experiences on here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/property/3610352-Home-Extension-Thread-2019-The-Extension and probably the first home extension thread too

Ours got delivered about 2 weeks ago, although we've not installed it yet, everything seems to be fine. We've checked all the cabinets - all doors, drawers and paintwork is intact. It is painted in a bespoke colour. It also came on day it was meant to - although we did get an annoying 2 day (8am - 10pm) slot.
Only thing missing is the touch up paint but I've been in contact with them and they've asked me to check inside all the cupboards again, so I need to do that. It's just tricky to do so, as it's all piled up!

I had very low expectations after seeing the posts on here, and on fb and Twitter, plus all those old reviews that suddenly appeared... I've been pleasantly surprised!!!

Faffandahalf · 26/07/2019 12:19

APPALLING!
We have a bespoke painted kitchen. We've never used it as we haven't moved into the house. We had it installed in April supposedly before their painting issues so they say. It has chipped paint in about 13-14 different places. The touch up paint goes over it roughly because it will never look like the spray painted finish so it juts looks bumpy and shit.
They did an 'independent' inspection (man in a van taking some photos) which found they're not to blame and have abandoned us basically. There's no guarantee or service that says they will help you with the kitchen so we've nothing but a shit looking kitchen and nearly 7K out of pocket.
I have cried a lot.

detachablehoof · 26/07/2019 18:18

@Faffandahalf it could have been me who wrote your post above. Except I haven't had the inspection yet.

Faffandahalf · 26/07/2019 19:44

detachable it will be with a company called FIRA. Total sham.

If you look on review websites today you will see my reviews and the DIY response to those reviews which is total
Rubbish.

What have they been saying to you?

WBWIFE · 26/07/2019 23:01

Had mine delivered today. All been delivered.delivery driver kept me up to date with his route as I was at work and needed to Nip home. Fantastic service start to finish really. We had to have a refund as we had too many fillers on our Plan and that was processed within days

Are all the issues with bespoke painted units in people’s experience?

I am planning go instal a Helmsley kitchen and have already held off a few months after hearing about these problems. I will likely stick to one of the standard painted colours offered though.

I am delighted with my utility room cabinets from them that we installed 3 years ago and was really surprised to read the recent poor reviews.

Not great to hear about post sales experience and bringing in FIRA. Are they suggesting that the damage was due to poor installation if the kitchen has not been used? Surely the fitters would not have installed damaged cabinets and doors?

Summergarden · 30/07/2019 20:03

Oh no, Faffandahalf and detachable. So sorry to hear this has happened and that you’ve been fobbed off. That’s crap.

Have they always done painted kitchens, I wonder? Just curious as to whether this is an issue that’s only been happening recently or not...

Faffandahalf · 30/07/2019 21:14

hotginger yes this is what they claim. That 13 chipped doors are down to bad fitting.

It’s just ridiculous. They are now ignoring my requests for the FIRA photos.

They also don’t appear to be signed up to any of the ombudsman type services. So I’m not sure where to go from here.

Summergarden · 30/07/2019 21:21

Did you pay by credit card, Faff? There is sometimes protection through paying that way, I think.

Or you could try taking it to a consumer champion such as the monthly page in Moneywise magazine, outline the situation to them and ask if they’ll get involved?
