Should we have got details of expired NHBC when we bought our house?

We are going on the market soon so have been getting the paperwork in order. We were very young when we bought this house 7 years ago and a bit naive, and I am suddenly quite bothered by the lack of documents we got when we bought! The house is now 19 years old, so when we bought it the NHBC would have expired 2 years previously. We never got any documents relating to it - is that correct/normal? I am suddenly in a panic that things are missing and we won't be able to sell the house! Blush

If it had expired, you didn't need it.

I never needed any documents when we recently sold our house. Just the deeds which were held by our previous solicitor.

If you are worried just call NHBC up. They have a lot of records and I'm sure get asked to send people information all the time. NHBC often do building control as well as their warranty so even though the warranty has long expired it may still be worth a call. I think you would need to call 0344 6331000 and ask for customer services. That said if you know someone else did building control then probably not worth the call.

Thanks for these very helpful responses, much appreciated. Will give NHBC a ring just to put my mind at rest as I believe the building control was indeed with them Smile
