Bathroom sink below window yay or nay?

Has anyone made this work? What do you do about mirror above sink? (husband wouldn’t agree to free standing pedestal mirror on window sill as something similar fell in current sink and cracked it?
In a small bathroom is it enough to have a good quality wall attached extendable shaving style mirror?

We have a very small family bathroom that is in desperate need of refurb.
We had two bathroom designers come and draw it out.
At present the toilet (sink above) is immediately facing door as walk in. Sink immediately to your right and the bath/shower on left behind door.
Man 1) keep everything as is
Man 2) put sink and toilet together on back wall under window as he says will make everything feel more spacious

Any opinions?

We have this and we're having the window replaced with a much higher up, longer and narrower window because it pisses me off so much!

so you can have a mirror put back on wall?

My parents had this- v small 1950's bathroom with separate loo. They solved it by putting a large mirror on the wall immediately beside the sink, which took up most of that wall. Upside- it maximised the feeling of light and space in a small room, downside- it faced the bath/shower which isn't everyone's cup of tea!

When you think about it you don't need a mirror above a sink, it's just what you expect to have. And you get used to anything. I would value floor space more, especially as a family bathroom where you're getting kids in and out of the bath, dried and dressed etc.

Could've phrased that better, it's the wall at right angles to the sink- so if you were (theoretically) shaving your face you just turn 90 degrees and you're directly facing it.

I've never lived in a house that doesn't have a window above the sink and I' 50.

We have a window above the sink. It's fine - we keep all our toothpaste etc on the window sill. Mirror is on the adjacent wall, immediately to the left of the sink.

Our sink is blow our window, we have our mirror on the wall to the left of the sink. Never thought twice about it to be honest!

golddustwomen · 24/06/2019 16:24

@OverthinkingThis exactly our set up!

Same here. We have a shaving type round mirror on a pull out arm thingy. Normal mirror one side and magnifying on the flip side for eyebrow plucking. Lots of good natural light from the window. Perfect!
