Hi guys I was hoping for some advice. We are currently having LVT installed to the whole of the downstairs of our house, the workman are about half way through the installation and I noticed some defects. Part of the job was for them to level the flooring, they covered 3 rooms with plywood and screeded the kitchen.

I went through the manufacturers instructions on how to lay the flooring to see if they had been doing it correctly. Things to note in the instructions were storing the planks no more than 2 boxes high perfectly flat, a 2mm expansion gap around the room, no pieces under 75mm in a width, no pieces under 300mm in length at the end of a row

LVT needs to be glued on a perfectly flat surface and I have noticed that there are gaps from non straight cuts of the plywood boards so there are big gaps around some of the walls.

I came home from work tonight to find the LVT stored around 5 boxes high with planks hanging over the edge bending.

There are very few areas where there is an expansion gap of 2mm, in fact there are many areas where the LVT planks are riding up against the wall so aren't even fully flat! One whole wall has planks which are approximately 50mm in width and end planks in places are under 300mm.

Considering the cost of the total job (68sqm) is just shy of £3k and we have already paid £1200 I am disappointed to say the least.

I was hoping for some advice for what to do. I was thinking of calling up the company tomorrow morning and asking them to stop the job until their boss comes out to inspect the work. Or I was thinking of letting them finish their work before persueing other options. Any advice would be great!

Go to each room, get exact measurements - and compare on paper against the instructions. Email it to them so there is evidence. Then phone to discuss. Keep it unemotive and factual. Hopefully they will be responsive but if they're not, no additional payments until sorted - what does your payment contract say?
