Megaflo or unvented cyclinder

We are planning on installing a new central heating system in our home, new radiators, boiler, pipe work (where needed) and hopefully an unvented cyclinder: we’ve had 4 quotes from plumbers and they have all come in at roughly the same price (one was very very high and we’ve ruled this one out)
However we are undecided to go with either:

quote A that will use an unvented cyclinder ( stainless lite 250ltr with Worcester Bosch green star 30Ri ErP
Quote B: megaflo eco CL 210 litre with band A worcester bosch 35cdi

The difference in price is making us choose quote A, £4,500 less than quote B. We could use that money elsewhere like the carpets which will be taken up when this work is to be done and will need replacing..

So my question is the quote A offer - is this just as good as quote B?

So confused and just want to get the right central heating system for my home - help! Confused

Any advice @PigletJohn or anyone else can offer?

they effectively do the same job though. both pressurised cylinders storing hot water?

why would you pay £4.5k more? I would have thought B is double the price of A at that value?

just make sure the boiler and cylinder are big enough for future - if you ever added an additional bathroom/extension for example

Our heating engineer said you pay extra for the megaflo brand. In his opinion it’s not worth it.

What is your quote for B..?

We've just had a Worcester Bosch Greenstart 30CDi plus a 250l Megaflo installed for £6k, in London

A £4.5k difference makes me think your quotes must be quite high..!

Sorry, I've just looked back at the paperwork, and we ended up going for a Telford Tempest instead of a Megaflo

An unvented hotwater cylinder/Megaflow is about £1000 online and about the same for a high end 35kW system boiler. So the rest of the quote is for labour, pipes and fittings which seem rather high.

They are effectively the same thing though aren't they? Our guy said megaflos.are just the Apple iPhones of the hot water tank world.

We recently had a Joule cycliner put in to replace an ancient crumbling system, with new pipework needed to connect it up to boiler and a Nest to replace the old thermostat, plus tank was the bigger one as we are a larger family. Was about 3.3K in the South East (kept existing boiler and rads though).

calpop · 12/06/2019 15:22

sorry it was less than that, have juts checked, £2900 including VAT. The 3.3K was a different quote.

I’ve worked in property in one way or another for about 90billion years.
Megaflo was the bane of my life in my property management days. Wouldn’t use it if it was 4K cheaper let alone 4K more.
