How much would you pay for...

A 9-year-old Miele washing machine? Our vendor has offered to sell at what I think is a silly price (for which they have form - house was massively overpriced too!). In good working order, hasn’t been used much allegedly (‘one careful elderly owner!’). Still technically under warranty, although that’s only valid for original owner

£25 for the convenience of it being in situ, and only if you don’t have one that fits the gap.

GetYourOwnLife · 07/06/2019 13:14

I wouldn't buy an old washing machine. It's plumbed in so it's fixtures and fittings. I politely asked our last vendors to take all their junk with them for 'vacant possession'.

LoopyGremlin · 07/06/2019 13:16

Miele are very expensive new. My one was over £1200 and that was 13 years ago! That said, I do a huge amount of washing and never had a single problem so it was money well spent. If I was selling my one I would be looking for around £75.

Closetlibrarian · 07/06/2019 13:16

I should add that we would like to buy it! We don’t want to take ours with us. And it would save hassle of trying to buy a new one and move at same time.

But Miele are supposed to last 20 years. I took mine with recently. I'd just say no thanks and see if they leave it. They are extremely heavy to move.

CottonSock · 07/06/2019 13:19

£50 if feeling generous.

JoJoSM2 · 07/06/2019 13:56

Maybe £50. They are sturdy but at 9yo it'll be very outdated, not energy efficient and Mieles tend to have a very small capacity.

redwoodmazza · 07/06/2019 14:20

Miele are very good quality. I would offer £50 and that would be a bargain price!
My new one cost £1,200 about 3 years ago.

Closetlibrarian · 07/06/2019 15:09

Thanks everyone

So how much did they want?

Closetlibrarian · 07/06/2019 15:19

£250!

WhentheDealGoesDown · 07/06/2019 15:29

I’d tell them to take it with them, it’s probably a small drum, £250 for an old washing machine, I wouldn’t care what make it was, CF’s

CottonSock · 07/06/2019 15:45

No way!

Alexalee · 07/06/2019 15:48

250 lol... you are doing them a favour not having to unplumb and dispose of... 50 would be generous... have a look on Ebay at what 9 year old miele machines go for... if anyone even sells stuff that old

roses2 · 07/06/2019 15:50

I wouldn't buy a 9 year old machine.....

WhentheDealGoesDown · 07/06/2019 15:51

I wouldn’t expect to pay for it as you are doing them a favour.

Attache · 07/06/2019 15:53

Virtually no value in a 9 year old machine, whatever it cost new. A more modern machine will be more efficient in water and electricity use too.

Ariela · 07/06/2019 16:00

Given the features it currently has are nowhere near current top spec, it'll be nowhere near A++ rating on efficiency, I'd point that out and simply make a counter offer of £50 and settle no higher than £80.
Having said that I'd probably want £75 for mine (20 year old). Soo reliable.

Ariela · 07/06/2019 16:01

Or look on eBay/Preloved and see what people are asking for same model
