Kitchen must haves/don't bother

I've been to Magnet today to have a look and was bamboozled by the amount of "stuff" you can buy as add ons. If you've had a kitchen fitted what are you really pleased you bought and what do you wish you hadn't bothered with ? I've picked my worktop and I want pan drawers, an induction hob, a steam oven. What else ?

I love my 2 basket drawers to keep fruit and vegetables in!

We’re going for underfloor heating, had it at previous house - luckily dh is a builder so will fit. We’ll just buy the kitchen off plan and he’ll do it
We already have brand new oven and integral microwave and dishwasher as they were all broken when we moved in (fuckers) so that’ll save a load (cost us £1600 2 days after
Moving in -
Totally unexpected)
Ah well

Agree that kitchen designers really vary even within the same company. My friend suggested s particular person at b&q who sat her down and asked her what her most important need was and then started developing the design around that. When I went in he’d left and I got someone who spent ages faffing around on a pc trying to get her software to work then said “Right. Where do you want your oven then?”, as if she was just there to input the ideas which were to come from me.

My benchmarx designer was best but I ended up using Howdens as that’s what the fitter wanted to fit. Could have got another fitter of course but this was a family friend so I really trusted him to do a good job and not rip me off.

I have a good waste bin, containers with fold down handles that you can take out with cleaning equipment in. It's all fitted in the drawer under the sink.

Dishwasher

Job / cooker with 5 or more rings on it.

We have water and ice dispenser on our fridge / freezer and use it a lot.

Lots of plugs and under wall cupboard lights.

Lights under floor cupboard just display crumbs on the floor.

I'd say Don't bother with glass cabinets as you can only store pretty stuff and take up valuable storage.

Don't bother with drinks fridge looks awful if you put other stuff in it that isn't a wine bottle.
